After a brief outline of the planned heist, the story jumps to the beginning of a multi-day assault on the Royal Mint of Spain in Madrid. Part 1 begins with the aftermath of a failed bank robbery by a woman named " Tokyo", as a man named the " Professor" saves her from being caught by the police and proposes her a heist of drastic proportions. Eight thieves take hostages and lock themselves in the Royal Mint of Spain as a criminal mastermind manipulates the police to carry out his plan.
